Marathon Training – Week 11 & 12 #BerlinMarathon2019

Ahh Week 11:

Hello Everyone! Week 11 wasn’t the worst and it wasn’t the best!

For the first day, I did 2 miles instead of 5. I go distracted by the empty gym at Karl’s gym where they had a basketball court and a volleyball court! I asked Karl if we could just shoot around and play instead! lol

I took another rest day for the 2nd and 3rd day of the week.

(Side Note: I thought I was resting enough!)

On the 4th day, I went and did 8 Miles with no stopping at all! I was so proud. I did 114 miles for the month of July and that 8 miles was a perfect way to end the month!

On the 5th day, I went and did 5 Miles in the AM.

The 6th day came along and I was able to do 5 miles in the morning and 3 miles during my lunch break. I needed to do 8 miles and this was the only way I could do it without needing to do it at night. I was trying to just rest at night since the next day was supposed to be 16 miles! My morning run was a bit stressful, actually they both were. Both these runs weren’t as fun as the usual runs I do.

The night before my mom told me about a woman getting attacked by a biker so on my 5 miles run that’s what was going on in my head. Every time I saw a biker, I panicked a little bit and I had to constantly remind myself that I will be okay and safe. For my 3 mile run on lunch, it was raining/drizzling. I kept thinking are there gonna be lightning or not?? So I had to finish the rest of the miles on the treadmill because I couldn’t stop myself from thinking and stressing out about the rain! Ayayayay I really need some mental exercises to get myself to focus on the run instead of being so worried all the time! Never the less I was happy I got the 8 miles done before I got off work meaning I could have the rest of the night just to rest and prepare for 16 miles the next day!

But here is where the side note above was for! When I woke up the next day, I felt so crappy! I thought maybe I just need to wake up a bit more and this feeling will go away but it didn’t. I ate my breakfast and started getting ready but I the crappy feeling didn’t go away! Now that I think about it, I think it was running in the rain and then going back inside in the A/C to finish the last couple of miles is what really got me sick!

So I ended up not doing my 16 miles at all and ended up taking  4 days off of running!

Now, I’m in week 12 and I am in the 4th day of it and just did 4 miles this morning. I’m easing up to it and hopefully this week my body and I will get better and better! I’m not giving up on my training. I’m running as much as I can and resting as much as I can!

(I’ll just update my 12 miles here!)

I am thankful for being able to share this experience with you because I am able to figure out why I got sick! lol
